If you've got an event coming up, be it large, small, indoor, outdoor, public, private, or corporate, chances are you've been thinking about how you're going to keep it clean.

That's where a professional event cleaning service comes in. Trained professionals know exactly how to handle the numerous cleaning tasks involved in event cleaning, making this service indispensable to busy event organisers. As cleaners ourselves with plenty of experience getting things back in order after events, we understand how essential this service can really be.

What is event cleaning?

Event cleaning is a professional service that includes everything required to keep an event clean, typically starting from before the event begins through to when it ends. This is an essential service, as not only does it ensure the event spaces continue to look as good as they're supposed to, but it also helps to keep guests or visitors safe. No one wants to go to an exciting event only to be faced with a dirty bathroom, or worse, slip on a mess and hurt themselves.

Keeping venues and event spaces clean is important for ensuring your guests have the  safe, comfortable experience they expect (and, in some cases, paid for).

What is included in an event cleaning service?

Event cleaning includes a long list of tasks that professionals complete before, during, and after your event. However, this task list can change, depending on what your specific event requires. Here is what the team at Vivo Clean offers from the get-go.

Planning

Included in every single event cleaning service is the initial consultation. Tell us about your event and what you know will be required, and we'll work with you to create a tailored plan of action that our cleaners will follow on the day or days of the event in question.

This meeting is also an opportunity to discuss any other services that may alter the cleaning service task list, such as portable toilet providers, who will handle the cleaning of their toilets.

Pre-event clean

Cleaning teams will ensure that the venue, including backstage spaces and rest areas for staff and/or crew, is clean before everyone gets there. This gives the team a clean canvas to start from and provides a fresh, hygienic venue for guests to arrive at.

Litter picking

For the majority of outside events, as well as many large indoor events, litter picking will be an essential task of the cleaning service. Plastic cups, cans, food wrappers, streamers, business cards, tickets, leaflets, wet wipes, and all the other rubbish events tend to produce will inevitably find their way to the floor. It's the cleaning team's job to pick it up, dispose of it, and keep walkways, dance floors, and the general ground clear of waste. Litter picking ensures areas look tidy and prevents guests from tripping over rubbish and hurting themselves.

Regular toilet checks and cleaning

If your hired cleaning team is responsible for the toilets, then they'll perform regular checks of the rooms and cubicles. Whenever cleaning is needed, they'll ensure toilets, sinks, urinals, and other facilities are wiped clean with the appropriate products to keep the areas sanitary. Spills will be mopped and other stains cleaned away to provide a safe and hygienic space for your event's guests. We also refill soaps, toilet rolls, and other essential bathroom supplies.

Waste management

Despite the litter, bins can get full very quickly at events. From festivals to corporate parties, ensuring bins remain empty enough for guests to throw rubbish in is essential for keeping things clean. A cleaning team will regularly empty waste and recycling bins and re-line them. They'll take care of the full bags, too, so there's no unsightly piles left where guests can see them.

If the event policy calls for it, cleaners will also make sure to keep general waste and recycling waste separate. We typically use bins provided on-site to deposit waste at the end of an event, but we can arrange a solution ourselves with our waste disposal partners as part of the cleaning service agreement if you need assistance.

Immediate response cleans (ad hoc mid-event)

Depending on the event type, cleaners can also be responsible for ad hoc messes. A dropped cup and spillage at a festival might be a little harder to manage due to scale and crowds, but at smaller, indoor events, cleaning teams like ours can quickly handle sudden messes that could lead to worse mess, unhappy guests, or injury. Large spills, overturned bins, unfortunate human messes, and more can be sorted promptly by on-site event cleaners.

Post-event venue deep clean

Once the guests have gone home, the big clean begins. Cleaning teams will perform a full venue clean-up, ensuring it's left just as clean as it was before anyone arrived, leaving you with a pristine venue to return to the owners or ready for the next event.

How to keep a big event clean

The best way to keep a big event clean is to hire a professional team of cleaners to do the work. The cleaners at Vivo Clean are highly skilled individuals with expert product and equipment knowledge, trained in the most efficient, thorough cleaning methods. With a team like ours responsible for the cleaning of your venue, you can rest easy knowing that your large-scale event will stay clean from start to finish.

Attempting to keep a big event clean yourself would require a very large team of people willing to get their hands dirty for many hours on end, who likely will not have the experience or expertise of a professional cleaner. This can lead to messes, accidents, angry guests, and a whole lot of stress for you and the event organisers.

We like to think of it this way: you wouldn't attempt to rig the lighting yourself, or conduct the security routines yourself, or cook the appetisers yourself, so why attempt to clean around a busy crowd yourself? It's always best to trust the professionals if you want a job well done.
